  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter browned
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Method

Prepare the Browned Butter
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, stirring frequently until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Mix the Ingredients
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake the Cookies
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  3. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
