Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni or any pasta of choice
Cheese Sauce
  • 2 cups cottage cheese preferably low-fat
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for flavor
  • 1/2 cup milk adjust for desired creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste
Topping
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs for crunch
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Method
 

Cook Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Cheese Sauce
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
Combine and Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large baking dish, combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the bread crumbs. Sprinkle the mixture over the mac and cheese.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Notes
