Ingredients

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Coconut Pecan Topping
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Prepare the Brownie Base
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake and Prepare Topping
  1. Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. While the brownies are baking, prepare the coconut pecan topping by combining shredded coconut, chopped pecans, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3. Once the brownies are done, remove them from the oven and immediately spread the coconut pecan mixture on top.
  4. Return the brownies to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
