Old-Fashioned Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Ingredients
  

Beef and Sauce
  • 1 pound Beef sirloin sliced into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil for cooking
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms sliced
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Sour cream for creaminess
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional
Pasta
  • 8 ounces Egg noodles or rice for serving

Method
 

Prepare the Pasta
  1. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Beef
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
Make the Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking until mushrooms are tender.
  2. Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing to a simmer.
  3. Reduce heat and stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard (if using). Return the beef to the skillet, mixing well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve
  1. Serve the beef stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles or rice. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of white wine to the sauce while cooking the mushrooms.
