Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced strawberries, 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, 1/4 cup sugar, and salt.
  2. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the strawberry mixture into a baking dish.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the strawberries.
  3. Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Serve
  1. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with ice cream.
